The Crafty vaporizer is a small portable device made in Germany by Storz & Bickel. It is an excellent portable dry herb vaporizer for those who are looking for the best quality of vapor. It is also known as one of the most flavorful vaporizers thanks to an optimal mix of convection and conductive heating. This is called hybrid heating. The Crafty’s powerful and precise heater reaches the default vaping temperature in about 60 seconds. The Crafty features adjustable temperature settings (104°F-410°F) using the Crafty Bluetooth app that also offers control over the sleep timer, LED brightness and vibration notifications. The dimensions are 2.2 “x 4.3”.

Ease of use

There is only one button on this unit so that makes everything super simple. It controls the temperature and powering the unit on or off.The micro-USB charging slot is convenient and easy to find. The preset temperature is 356°F and comes with a boost of 383°F. You can easily change them with the smartphone app using Bluetooth.

 

Design of the Crafty Vaporizer

The Crafty is a very elegant vaporizer on the market, but it’s because it’s built with a first-class approach. All thoughts on how the vaporizer looked were secondary to the operation of the device. This kind of pragmatism makes a unit less attractive in looks. What it can do far outweighs the aesthetic disadvantages.

Build Quality

The construction of the vape looks very rigid. It is well built and made with high quality parts. Mesh screens do an excellent job of filtering out particles of your materials to make every draw pure, tasty and unaccompanied as it travels from the heating chamber to your mouth. There is no plastic flavor in the vapor and the vapor is smooth, fresh and surprisingly satisfying.

Battery Life

One of the biggest criticisms of Crafty’s previous models was its awful battery life, which was about 30-45 minutes. The most recent versions has a 20% longer life, which gives the user about 1 hour of solid continuous vaping.

The battery is charged via USB and there is an included wall adapter. However, the USB cable makes it extremely easy to charge just about anywhere using an external battery. It also allows you to use the Crafty while charging, as long as it has about 20% charge.

When charging, the Crafty displays a blinking blue LED light that becomes steady when fully charged. It takes about 2 hours of empty to full, as long as you do not use it.

 

Functionality

The Crafty vape is a very simple design from the point of view of the unit itself. The unit itself has only one button on it. Once the unit is on, it heats up to the base temperature of 356°F (180°C). The unit also has a boost temperature of 383°F (195°C) and can be reached by pressing the power button twice.

The unit operates on the basis of a convection heating system combined with conduction. Convection heating of the Crafty vaporizer vaporizes dry herb with warm air. It is thoroughly and effectively extracting flavors, aromas and essential effects without burning the herb.

Two temperatures are predefined by the manufacturer as default values. However, using the Crafty app on an Andriod and iOS, you can change these temperatures as well as see the unit’s charge level and adjust the others unit settings.

How to Use the Crafty Vaporizer

Crafty is easy to fill and use. Here’s how it works:

1. Unscrew the upper part of the device. All you have to do is rotate it to the side, and it is easy to disassemble. This exposes the herbs chamber.
2. Fill the herb chamber. Be sure to use the nifty filling tool that helps you pack your herbs carefully.
3. Rotate the upper part back into place..
4. Press the button to turn on the Crafty and start heating your herbs. It should vibrate to let you know it’s activated.
5. While it’s heating up, the indicator should be red.
6. Once the default temperature is reached, the indicator turns green.
7. At this point you are good to go. It’s so easy to start.

The herb chamber has a generous capacity of about 0.3g, depending on how perfectly you grind your material. The great thing about the Crafty is that you do not need a super fine grind to get good results with this vaporizer.

Temperature Settings

The Crafty come with two temperature settings: 356°F and 383°F on the unit itself. When you turn on the device for the first time, it automatically warms up to 356°F, but you can press the power button twice to activate the boost mode. This will increase the temperature to 383°F. The 356°F setting is ideal for most herbs, and you can adjust the default temperature with Crafty’s handy app.

You can manually change the temperature from 104°F to 410°F using the app.

 

Performance

The Craftys herbs chamber has a capacity of about 0.3g (depends on how you grind). You do not need to grind your materials into fine powder to get good results with this vape. The loading of the chamber is really cool. It comes with a filling tool that attaches to the top of the chamber and which allows you to pack it perfectly every time.

Once the chamber is loaded, replace the upper part with the mouthpiece and hold the power button for two seconds to turn it on. The vape will vibrate and the LEDs will blink. tThe lights will turn red while the unit is heating up. After about 90 seconds, the unit vibrates again and the light turns green to indicate that it has reached the vaping temperature.

If you’re familiar with the Plenty vape, the Crafty’s performance is quite similar. You can get strong draws from this vape and the vapor will be smooth and tasty. At the default temperature, you may not notice any harshness and the vapor may not seem hot, but the overall quality is high-end.

The Crafty is the first vaporizer to offer a remote control application. This free app is available for both iPhone and Android, and uses a Bluetooth connection to interact with your vaporizer.
