Ever growing in popularity, many enthusiasts are switching to portable dry herb vaporizers more frequently than ever before. One of the main reasons is because the quality of vaporizers are increasing on nearly a daily basis. With so many choices, it can be difficult for someone just starting their vaping experience to figure out which portable vaporizer is right for them nevertheless a dry herb vaporizer. Two options that they’re probably going to run into are the DaVinci Ascent and the DaVinci Portable Discreet Vaporizer. While both vaporizers are from the Organicix, LLC, the DaVinci company, there’s quite a difference between the two.
An absolutely great portable dry herb vaporizer, The DaVinci Ascent Vaporizer uses conduction style vaporization as do most of the top line vaporizers. This helps the dry herbs vaporize instead of combust or burn like they would if you were to smoke it, which defeats the purpose of a vaporizer. From start to your desired temperature, the Ascent will heat up in about a minute, ranging from 38°F (3°C) to 430°F (221°C). With a glass air path, mouthpiece, and ceramic heating chamber, this is easily one of the most advanced and safe portable vapes. This dry herb vaporizer measures in at 4.47” (11.4cm) x 2.24” (5.7cm) x 1.03” (2.61cm) and weighs in at .43lbs.
The sibling of the DaVinci Ascent Vaporizer, the DaVinci Portable Discreet Vaporizer does not come short from it though. For the most part, it looks like a walkie-talkie or an old radio device with its straw-like mouthpiece looked like an antenna which is why this portable dry herb vaporizer is easily one of the most discreet vaporizers. With a shorter heat up time than the Ascent Vaporizer, it ranges from 50°F (10°C) to 405°F (207°C) in about 45 seconds. It does come a bit smaller at 3.9” (9.9cm) x 1” (2.54cm) x 2.25” (5.7cm). The mouthpiece is a flexi-straw that is durable enough not to rip or cut under a lot of pressure.
Both the DaVinci Ascent Vaporizer and the DaVinci Portable Discreet Vaporizer offer a user incredible control over the heating process. The reason being that both vaporizers can either heat dry materials or wax which is a great reason to consider either one but it is the DaVinci Ascent Vaporizer that offers some of the best preheating time for a portable device as it can be fully preheated in just around one minute. The DaVinci Portable Discreet Vaporizer isn’t too shabby in this department either, but it is not going to wow any users anytime soon. Both devices come with digital readers that can switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit. To change the temperature settings, you hold down the power button for three changed and it will change from Fahrenheit to Celsius and vice versa. Some users have complained about the DaVinci Portable Discreet Vaporizer having problems with overheating, a problem the company has corrected with the DaVinci Ascent Vaporizer.
One thing to remember with these DaVinci Vaporizers along with all other vaporizers is make sure your herbs are finely ground so the herbs can be heated up evenly. When you put giant clumps in there, the opposite side of the herbs facing the heating element won’t vaporize correctly. This can result in wasted herbs. It also helps making sure the heating chamber not be so full. About half to about ¾ of the way is fine and remember not to pack it down too tightly so the heat distributes evenly.
The DaVinci Portable Discreet Vaporizer wasn’t given its name without a good reason. The device was incredibly discreet in that it was lightweight and could even be transported in a pocket. The Ascent is rather discreet in its own right, but its more complex design gives it a little more weight and the glass mouthpiece makes it a little more difficult to transport as it can be rather fragile.
One of the main problems with the DaVinci Portable Discreet Vaporizer was its battery life which was not suited for those looking for a vaporizer they could take on the road without having to find a place where they could charge the device. If you’re going out on the lake, you don’t want to have to constantly head to a bathroom in order to charge your device. DaVinci not only fixed this problem with the DaVinci Ascent Vaporizer, but they also created one of the most reliable portable vaporizers on the market. The Davinci Ascent Vaporizer not only can lasts up to three hours of use but it’s also rechargeable. The user can also replace the batteries which isn’t always possible with portable vaporizers. While it is rather evident that the DaVinci Ascent Vaporizer is a better vaporizer than its predecessor, it is also important to note that it is only improving on what was already a solid design in the first place so a novice might want to consider the DaVinci Portable Discreet Vaporizer for its economic price point which is quite a bit less than the DaVinci Ascent Vaporizer. On average both the DaVinci Ascent Vaporizer and DaVinci Portable Discreet Vaporizer last about full 10-15 cycles before another recharge.
